Texans vs Taxes hosts these seminars as part of its mission to educate property owners across Texas about their rights under the Texas Property Tax Code. Registration is required only so we can ensure adequate seating at each venue.
Anyone who pays property taxes in Texas. The seminars cover strategies for homeowners, senior citizens, families, commercial property owners, investors, developers, business operators, farmers, ranchers, and exotic game ranch owners. Whether you own a single home or a commercial portfolio, you'll walk away with actionable strategies to reduce your property tax burden.
Topics include how the property tax protest process works, key deadlines for filing protests (including the May 15 deadline), how to use cost-to-cure evidence from contractor repair estimates, depreciation and cost segregation strategies for business owners, equal and uniform taxation principles, how to challenge your assessed value with comparable sales data, and how to protect your property's valuation long-term. Each seminar is tailored to the local community and covers issues specific to your county's appraisal district.
Bring your most recent Notice of Appraised Value from your county appraisal district if you have it — it helps you follow along with the examples. A notepad and pen are also useful. Everything else is provided. If you don't have your notice, you can still attend and benefit from the seminar.
